It was a very hot September day, but there was no rain, so we can't complain! Ashley and Tony got married at Acqua Restaurant and Banquets, right on the shore of the Niagara River. It was a lovely day... a little warm (mostly for the poor guys in the suits), but perfect for their outdoor wedding.
With the limited time we had, and limited space at Acqua, I did some scouting earlier in the day to find a spot for the group photos. I didn't imagine sneaking around back of the banquet hall with the wedding party and take the group photos in a small park that sat next to an apartment building parking lot... but that's exactly what we did, and who would guess with these photos!? It was perfect to get the water in the back, which is exactly what Ashley wanted.
When speaking with Ashley before her wedding, we knew it would be hard as far as space to get the photos we wanted especially the ones of just her and Tony. Looking at the map and what our options were, I discovered that we would have just enough time in the cocktail hour to hop in my SUV, drive down Broderick Park on Unity Island to get some shots of the couple without the pressure of the guests eyes on us. It was perfect, after family photos, we got in my car and headed down. We were close to sunset, so the lighting was lovely. When we headed back to their wedding, Ashley told me how grateful she was because she wanted to have one photo that "represented her inner Buffalo girl" and having a photo with the Peace Bridge in the background was perfect! I was excited to get the chance to photograph at this every unique place!
