Wedding Elopement in Finger Lakes, Hammondsport, NY

Finger Lakes Elopement and Wedding Photography

Let's talk about this dreamy Elopement Wedding in the Finger Lakes Region of New York.

Talk about a Backdrop!! 😍

Not a cloud in the sky on September 4th 2021, and the perfect day for Theresa and Nathan to say "I do".

From the start, regardless of planning a wedding mid-pandemic, Theresa and Nate knew they wanted a small intimate wedding. They chose Hammondsport, NY in the Finger Lakes as it was the same place they met 7 years ago and now are residing. They chose the Manor House Estate as their venue, which allowed them to have a custom, simple and diy wedding that was uniquely theirs.

Surrounded by 50 of their closest friends and family, the sun shined while Theresa and Nathan recited vows to one another with gorgeous Keuka Lake in the backdrop. The ceremony was intimate and special, written by Theresa and officiated by Nate's Uncle.

Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed the view along with a a large cooler full of refreshments and cocktail snacks, as the couple and I spent time taking family portraits on the hill. Shooting in full sunlight can be difficult, so rather than spending time doing the couples photos during cocktail hour, we chose to wait till the sun headed behind the hill during dinner.

Theresa and Nathan spent the evening catching up and laughing with friends from near and far. As we got ready for dinner, catered by a local restaurant, Timber Stone Grill, Nate's sister, Heather and brother in-law, Byron chose to say a few words about the couple. It was quite fun for all to hear stories of the first time Heather met Theresa and the first time Byron met Nate. Of course, there were some touching moments, and a few tears shed. Delightfully after the speeches, a college friend of Nate's volunteered to say a few words, which brought more laughter and a love impromptu moment.

If you've ever been married, you know you don't eat much on your wedding day. Something about the excitement and anticipation makes you full. I try to force all my couples to get a few bites (especially if drinking has been involved) then join me for some sunset photos. With Theresa and Nate, we were waiting for the sun to disappear for the magic to happen... suddenly, it felt like a different day! The tone turned cooler and the scene somehow looked more stunning in the evening light. After a glass of champagne and with the guests distracted, we took advantage of the backdrop and took some of my favorite wedding photos to date.

The night ended with an intimate first dance, cake cutting and a playlist made by the couple themselves to dance the night away. It was the perfect day and perfect way to tell their love story.
