Historic Wedding Day at Buffalo NY Museum with an Epic Dance Floor!
Back in August of 2018, I met with Emily at a coffee shop on Hertel Ave. in Buffalo, NY. She was recommended to me by her brother who happens to be a friend of mine and my partners. She was in the start of her wedding planning and wasn't fully confident about photos, I could tell. As a year went by and we met for our pre-wedding meeting, her and Dan told me stories about how they don't do well with photos, either eyes are closed or candids are awkward. I assured them, I take A LOT of photos and my goal for most couples is to capture the tender candid moments. I told them no matter what we get, I promise there will be enough that they are surprised and happy with... I think I achieved that with the photos below!
I contracted Jaimie Ellis of Jaimie Ellis Photography to help me photograph this beautiful August day. Jaimie stuck with the groomsmen, as I photographed with the ladies at the beautiful Hotel Henry. It was a great day, full of nerves, but a lot of laughter and smiles. We headed over to the Buffalo History Museum for the ceremony and reception. I coordinated the "First Look" for Dan and Emily in the Japanese Gardens of Delaware Park, it was a perfect secluded area for the reveal.
The ceremony was perfect, Emily and Dan looked like royalty on the steps of the museum. Their friend and officiant made the perfect jokes and loveliest sentiments for their quick, but beautiful ceremony. The night went on, the party was introduced and the couple took to the dance floor as Emily's brother and his partner covered "Home" by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros for their first dance. Emily's mother gave a toast before dinner that caused a few tears to fall. After the rest of the toasts, dinner and some great group photos, Emily and Dan took to the floor the the Hora! This was my favorite part and the venue allowed for some great above photos from the second floor! The Silver Arrow band rocked out the last few hours of the party, allowing for some very fun photos!
It was such a pleasure to work with this couple, and I truly hope I surprised them with these photos. Not a single eye closed or awkward smile in any... just love and happiness that should last a lifetime.
